Southgate & Roberts are very proud to be accredited the highly-regarded Recommendation Award by the UK funeral industry’s leading consumer watchdog, the “Good Funeral Guide”. This prestigious award is the prize possession of less than 2% of the UK’s funeral service providers.

Covid – 19 : Update Friday 27th March

As funeral service providers we have a duty to protect all our clients, staff and the wider community. Unfortunately, these unprecedented times necessitate our making some significant changes to our usual working practice.

We would like to reassure all our clients that we will of course still maintain the high standard of care that we are proud to provide to our clients and their loved ones.

Regrettably and until further notice we will be taking the following steps in order to minimise potential risk factors.

We are no longer able to offer in-person appointments to arrange funeral services.

Arrangements will instead be made remotely utilising phone calls, email, or a variety of video link alternatives (Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp, Zoom).

In accordance with changes to legislation paperwork will now be sent electronically where possible, or if necessary, delivered by hand.

We are not able to offer visits in our chapel of rest.

We are not able to provide conveyance for families (limousines or taxis).

All deceased in our care will be dressed in a simple tasteful gown rather than in their own clothing.

If you or your family members are unable to attend a funeral service we have the facility to provide livestreaming and recording of the service.

We are no longer able to accept memorial donations as cash. Provision can be made to collect donations via online memorial pages using JustGiving. We are still able to receive donations made by cheque.

Please be aware that this is a fast-developing situation and as such this advice is subject to change.

Many of the third parties with which we work closely – Crematoria, Churches etc. are currently in the process of updating their own working practices, for example limiting attendance etc.

We will be happy to advise of any changes. Thank you for your understanding.
